Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

More love for this week's box

Here are some of the cards going postal to Sandy on Monday.  Look I used yellow!  That and pink are the hardest colors for me to use for some reason.

These first 6 cards have heavy cardstock embellishments and the paper is K&Co.

And now of something a little different...... Pink!

This looks so cool IRL with the gold mesh under the black ribbon.  There are 6 of these in the box.

Sending some Love

I made a dozen of these for the box going out this week.  The blue floral is an older paper but being rather a timeless pattern didn't need to hit the recycle bin.  Yay!  The free digi was made by Paula and is one of my go-to sentiments.

Father's Day cards for OWH

Here is a random sampling of the cards in the box being mailed out to Operation Write Home tomorrow for the Father's Day deadline which is the end of April.

Some of them were made in multiples.

Yes, I don't have much for Father's Day stamps....

This box will be sent out tomorrow.

Design Bootcamp - Now That's Odd

It's time for another terrific installment of Design Bootcamp taught by Paula over at the Stars and Stamps blog.  The subject is using odd numbers in design.  It is something I think I sort of "know" but don't always apply.  Sometimes my cards just come out more artsy collage-ish.

I had actually been cleaning up the scraps when I made these two.  I'm glad they follow the design criteria for this month.  :)

MidWeek Throwdown - Bugs Life

The MWT at Stars & Stamps blog is to make cards with bugs.  It appears that all I can find for bugs at the moment is the butterfly.  This one is a 3-d embellishment from K&Co and I have a few more so don't be surprised when they show up.  :)

Our Daily Bread Designs April Challenge - Things That Fly

The ODBD monthly challenge is a nice change from just making "man" cards for the Father's Day deadline at the end of the month.  Man cards are hard enough to make without that being my sole focus.  It was nice to make a more decorated card.

The sentiment is a free digi from Create with TLC, the sentiment frame is an EK Success punch, the butterfly and blue frame were made on the Cricut, the flourish is a Sizzix die and the embossing folder is Cuttlebug.

Midweek Throwdown & Masculine Cards

Last week the MWT was for cards with tags and twine.  And this week's Tuesday tutorial asked for masculine cards.  Got 'em both!

This edge paper is really cool bamboo paper!  The tag is K&Co and the letter stickers are EK Success.

Friendly Cricut Love

I don't want my tools feel unloved so here is a Cricut cut for the day.  The background texture came from a RAK I had received quite a while ago.  Sadly, I can't get that folder up here.  :(
