Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

OWH Sketch #5

Here on Sketch Sunday I decided to reach back into the sketch files and work an oldie.  This is sketch #5.

The stripes on the center paper are all glossy embossed and the low profile buttons look like gemstones!  I got 4 of these made for the next OWH box.

Scrap Wrangling/Design Elements

As I was cleaning up my work table this morning and shuffling all the scraps I had a light bulb moment.  Instead of the scraps just being sorted and tucked away in the hopes of being useful, I had an idea.  I got out my Big Kick and some of my texture folders and got to texturizing.  No longer "just" scraps these are now design elements.  Those kind that just add that little specialness to the cards.  I wasn't particular as to the size of the scrap, all sizes including strips were run through the machine.  I even dug through my sorted scraps for ones to give a new lease on life.  Now when I look into the basket I no longer see scraps but Design Elements.  :)

ODBD Challenge for March - Thank You!

The challenge ODBD puts out to OWH card makers for the month of March is to make Thank You cards to send to our nation's Heroes so they can thank all who are helping to support them while they are deployed.

Here is mine...... I made 8.  I love the velvet ribbon!  The swirly thing is cut with the Cricut.  And for the Oldie Moldie card makers, the beige DP background I've had for too long.  It is now being useful.
