Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

OWH Christmas

I just realized I had not posted any Christmas cards for the July box to OWH.  Some of us have decided to make a few early so that the rush doesn't turn into a crush for us or for Sandy trying to sort and ship them all out.

These four are the first to go in the box.  And since they have no sentiment they could be used for any kind of card during that season.

So, I can add seven to my tally and get crackin' on some more!

OWH Collage-ish

I have no idea where these came from.  I pulled this paper out of a pile that had been precut quite a long time ago and figured it hid out long enough.  With absolutely no preplanning this is what I came up with.  I kind of like the non-structured way these were put together.

Right down to the duck tape stickers.

OWH Sketch #68 and then some!

This started out as OWH sketch #68.  I had this paper in 12"x8" so I had planned on making at least 4 of this sketch and then use the scraps to make some other cards.  Well.... yeah.  I got 3 cut and then suffered a severe case of not being able to measure and cut.

The paper for the 4th card didn't get cut right and somehow I ended up with a bunch of pieces that were NOT what was intended.

I should have just walked away.  BUT! then I saw these chunks of dark teal laying on my table and I ended up making all these cards with the parts that all got cut wrong..........

Sometimes I just don't get it........  :)

OWH Grateful Scrapin' Cards

I am so glad the rain finally stopped.  Being swamped in the house for 6 days was just waaaay too long!
Here is just a parade of Grateful cards made from the pesky scraps that I think multiply in the dark.

And honestly, I don't think I've made that big of a dent in them.

Ok, I had better get back to washing floors..... bummer......

Have a wonderful Saturday!

OWH Love Cards

I'm posting love cards this morning.  I was up at 6am listening to more rain...... rain that has not stopped for the past 5 days.  The town may flood again this year and I am swamped in.

There is so much mud and water flowing out here that even if it stopped right now I still couldn't drive out for a few days.

I was going for masculine with this set.  The small squares are like bits of marble.....and the letter cuts were done on the Cricut.

These were also the ongoing attempt to use up left overs of all kinds, paper, embellishment, pre-cut items.....  Off to get a cup of coffee and survey the new lakes that have formed and to check all hatches for any signs of leaking....   Praying for a break.

Cindy-Style Scrap Cards!

I have been inspired by Cindy R. to make some strippy scrap cards.  These are two that are going in the next box to OWH.
And since it is a yucky, cold, rainy day I might as well do something positive for our Heroes!  Getting that box filled!

Grateful today

I know that right now it is hard for me to think of being grateful but it has been my experience that THAT is when I need to be.  In being grateful for freedom and liberty I'm posting "Grateful" cards today.

I'm working on some more cards to finish filling my box to get it into the mail tomorrow.

I know what it feels like to get no mail and to hear from no one.

And I am grateful today for Pam T. who sent me a wonderful box of goodies to help me to find my smile and MY gratitude.  Pam you Rock!

And would you just look at that scrap pile get smaller and smaller!  LOL!  Happy Saturday everyone!

I Miss You

I know that OWH is always in need of Missing You cards so here is my contribution for today going in the box.  I made 9 of these.  That nice big ribbon is May Arts and so soft that a big loose knot is not too much bulk for the card.

Random Scrap Cards for OWH

These are just some random cards I made trying to put a dent in the scrap pile.  the butterfly is K&Co. and not to worry, anything that looks glittery is either very sealed by them or by ME.

Kind of masculine, eh?

I never used to do banners until recently.

All the big stars are popped.  (I was so brave with all that direct stamping!)  :)

Masculine Grateful For You

Here is a little more manly gratitude card.  I was cleaning up some scraps and this just "happened."  I am grateful for when the cards just sometimes happen...... makes up for the days when Mr. Mo-Jo is absent.  So in the box it goes!

OWH Sketch 57 Miss You

This one started out as OWH Sketch 57.  Then after I made four of them I noticed that there was a circular embellishment/sentiment missing.......... duh!  oh, well.  It inspired me to make these so it's all good!

ODBD June Challenge - Die Cuts or Punches

Good morning!  I'm having coffee while reading the new ODBD challenge for June and realized I have the perfect die cut, well, it is a Cricut cut that I had made a while back.  I made several of them so there will be more of them showing up.

OWH Sketch #63

Here is another Operation Write Home sketch that I had not checked off my list.  It looks familiar so I am sure I have done some similar without actually intending to do this sketch.  The butterflies are K&Co and the paper is Colorbok (another oldie moldie pre cut paper).  I did add Dimensional Magic to all the butterflies for just a little extra shine.  Got 6 of these made for the next OWH box.

Pretty Paper Simple

Thank goodness that some paper is just so darn pretty without any help from me!  I had gotten this from an LSS on a huge clearance sale they were having.  One sheet made 9 cards.
